1 in 4 customers dump their basket when you force account creation. (Probably more depending on your UX flow)
If a customer wants socks, shoes, or a shirt, it doesn’t mean they’re up for a long-term relationship, at least not yet.
Good work, your marketing led them to your site, they’ve add items, they’re about to buy and then… BAM. “Please create an account.”
Another password to create & remember?
– 8 characters
– 1 number

The opposite of “Don’t make me think”…
It’s like asking for someone’s life story when all they want to do is buy something and get on with their day.
Let customers use Guest Checkout and complete their purchase first. Once they’ve followed through, then, maybe you can ask them to set a password.
I see friction like this all too often.
Some obvious.
Some not so obvious.
At Ascensor | Digital Conversion Specialists I help find & fix those friction points.
